GeneClinicX is committed to protecting your data and personal information in the best possible manner. Your privacy and the security of your data are of utmost importance to us. To help you better understand our policies regarding data and privacy, we have prepared a list of frequently asked questions (FAQ) in simple to understand language.
What information do we typically collect?
We collect personal details such as your full name, gender, date of birth / age, contact information (telephone numbers, email address, shipping and billing address), medical history, names of treating doctors, answers to surveys and other medically relevant information, which you may have provided to us through our website, or over the phone, or via email or other electronic means, or in person at our clinic. As a part of family history, details of your close family members including your spouse, parents, children and siblings may be collected if required. If you visit our site online, we may capture additional information such as your IP address, the gateway through which you reached our site, etc. GeneClinicX does not store or have access to your payment information. We use a third-party payment processor “Razorpay” to process all online payments, who may collect additional information in order to complete the transaction. If you choose to get any genetic testing through GeneClinicX, the results generated from genetic assays are also collected. The record keeping may be in the form of paper records and/ or electronically or digital format on the computer systems and server with an authorized access control.
Why do we need this information?
The personal information that we collect is used as a unique identifier which may allow us to reach out to you to schedule appointments or and to allow us to send you testing kits, to send your results of the testing and to process your payments. Personal, medical and family information is also required so we may interpret your genetic testing results in the appropriate context. Unless you explicitly refuse, the data which is generated from genetic assays, may be used to improve quality of services, technical analysis), teaching/ training purposes, scientific presentations or publications and for submission on publicly available databases, but never in an identifiable manner. If we intend to use these health records beyond these purposes, we would ask for your explicit consent. In that case you will be given the option of right to “refuse”. We will not disclose your personally identifiable, health information or test results with an insurance company, employer or other research collaborators without your explicit consent.
How do we ensure data security and integrity?
GeneClinicX has established systems to maintain confidentiality of your data and to limit access to personal information only to authorized individuals. While we are committed to protect all our data in a secure manner and prevent any unauthorized access, please be aware that information technology systems are not always 100% secure. GeneClinicX is not liable for any inadvertent loss of data or information breaches.
If you choose to undergo genetic testing or other laboratory investigations with GeneClinicX, our clinical diagnostics division, GenePath Diagnostics, will process your sample and generate reports. Personally identifiable information will remain linked to your sample for a period of 6 months after we receive it. Unless you have indicated otherwise on the consent form at the time of sample collections, after these 6 months have elapsed all personal information will be stripped from the samples i.e. the information will be delinked. Anonymized samples may be stored and used for quality control purposes and laboratory and assay improvement processes. If you do not want your sample to be used in this manner, please indicate on the consent form at the time of sample collection, and we will discard your blood/ saliva/ DNA sample after 6 months. Please note that once the samples have been delinked, we will no longer be able to locate your sample and carry out any additional investigations or destroy it.
What are you consenting to by registering or using our website?
In case of online consultations, you acknowledge that we have your consent for tele-medicine. In case the Registered Medical Practitioner (RMP) becomes unavailable for an appointment, we will reschedule your appointment for you. Please note that we do not record, store or listen to the conversations between the RMP and patient. The RMP will use their professional judgement on the sufficiency of a tele-consultation, and shall exercise proper discretion and not compromise on the quality of care. Under no circumstances, shall GeneClinicX be responsible or liable for any recommendations made or information exchanged between the Partner and the patient. GeneClinix shall not be liable for misdiagnosis, incorrect prescriptions, incorrect advice or recommendations.
